María Guerrero Theatre – Construction Supervision of Stage Grid Refurbishment

TAGA Proyectos Escénicos carried out the Construction Supervision of the stage grid refurbishment at María Guerrero Theatre in Madrid, Spain, also assuming the role of Site Execution Management for the structural modification of this critical component of the stage machinery system.

María Guerrero Theatre, part of the National Drama Centre and managed by the Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música (INAEM), is one of the most historically significant performance venues in Spain. The intervention required rigorous technical oversight to ensure compatibility between the structural upgrade and the preservation of the heritage building.

This project forms part of a broader historic theatre refurbishment strategy aimed at upgrading technical infrastructure while safeguarding architectural and cultural value.

The objective of the stage grid intervention was to adapt and reinforce the existing structure in order to comply with current regulations, improve safety conditions, and optimise the performance of the theatre’s technical systems within a specialised stage engineering environment.

The scope of Construction Supervision included:

• Comprehensive technical oversight of the structural works

• Verification of materials and load-bearing elements

• Qualitative and quantitative control of on-site execution

• Supervision of load testing procedures and technical inspections

• Coordination among contractors and project stakeholders

• Preparation and validation of final project documentation

Throughout the construction process, technical adjustments were implemented in response to the building’s existing conditions, ensuring structural stability, operational safety, and full integration with the existing stage machinery systems.
