Teatre Principal d’Inca – Technical Report Stage Fire Curtain

Technical Report Stage Fire Curtain System Spain at Teatre Principal d’Inca

TAGA Proyectos Escénicos prepared a Technical Report Stage Fire Curtain System Spain, at Teatre Principal d’Inca, located in Inca, Balearic Islands, Spain. The purpose of the study was to assess the current condition of the fire separation system between stage and auditorium and to verify compliance with applicable fire safety regulations.

Commissioned by Ajuntament d’Inca, the project forms part of a broader technical review of active and passive fire protection systems within this public theatre in the Balearic Islands.

Technical Assessment of the Stage Fire Curtain System

The scope of the report included a detailed evaluation of the existing fire curtain installation, focusing on:

  • Closing performance and smoke tightness

  • Structural integration within the proscenium opening

  • Actuation and safety mechanisms

  • Compliance with the Spanish Building Code (CTE-DB SI)

  • Verification according to UNE-EN 1634-1 fire resistance standards

Fire resistance performance was analysed in accordance with EI60, EI90 and EI120 classifications. Both certified textile fire curtains and metal fire doors were assessed, considering their technical feasibility, economic impact and functional compatibility within the theatre’s stage engineering infrastructure.

Comparative Analysis and Regulatory Compliance

The technical report included a comparative assessment of alternative stage fire curtain systems, evaluating their structural compatibility with the stage house configuration and their integration with existing theatre machinery systems.

Key aspects analysed included:

  • Structural loads transferred to the existing building

  • Maintenance and inspection requirements

  • Integration with stage machinery

  • Public and performer evacuation safety conditions

The outcome of the study provides Teatre Principal d’Inca with a solid technical basis for decision-making, prioritising operational safety, system reliability and regulatory compliance within the context of theatre fire safety in Spain.

This project reinforces TAGA Proyectos Escénicos’ expertise in fire protection engineering for performance venues across Spain and the Balearic Islands, consolidating its experience in technical audits, regulatory compliance and stage compartmentation systems.
